We just sold a beautiful Albin 31. The informed buyer was from Alaska and he looked at every Albin on the Pacific Coast. After looking at our vessel, he told us that he was flying home and would make a decision. We contacted him offering additional information on the boat along with information on the manufacturer. He made an offer on our boat for half the asking price. We were able to negotiate a price that was close to asking. In the end, the seller got his price and the buyer got a great value. Today the boat is being trucked north to Alaska.
I received a call this morning from a young lady who is also selling her Albin 31. She wanted to find out if our buyer was the same gentleman who made an offer on her vessel and she wanted to know what our boat sold for. I was told that her broker got a half price offer on her boat and they rejected it . . no counter offer, no negotiations! How were we able to make a deal after her deal died?
This situation is all too common. McGrath Yachts has been very successful in negotiating deals that other brokers would deem not worth their efforts. However, as sales professionals, it is always our goal at McGrath Yachts to negotiate a win-win situation for our buyers and our sellers.
So, how are we able to achieve our goal? By maintaining an attitude of respect for our buyers and sellers. With the goal of negotiating a win-win sale, we put our egos aside and do the work necessary to make sure facts are presented and obstacles are overcome. In the end, the seller is ready to find their next boat and the buyer cruises off to create wonderful memories.
When you’re ready to buy or sell your boat, interview us! We’d love to be YOUR deal maker!
